trumpet helper on BILL CHASE INSPIRED HIGH NOTE… Mr WordPress on BILL CHASE GET IT ON!
Check out this link for all you want to know about BILL CHASE. So, you have maybe heard songs like GET IT ON and OPEN WIDE and wanted to be able to play some of those high notes?
How did Chase do that? Well, he wasn’t always a monster on trumpet. Bill Chase actually played lead trumpet in Maynard Ferguson’s band, but had a problem…a problem with his trumpet mouthpiece.
From my understanding, Bill was having trouble with passing out and gassing and Maynard was fed up. Maynard gave Bill a 2 week notice to get a better trumpet mouthpiece or he would be let go.
As it goes with trumpet players…and EGOS, Bill did not change his mouthpiece and was subsequently…LET GO.
Of course the rest is history: Bill ended up playing a rather shallow Schilke 6a4a, but got an amazing fat, gorgeous sound…he started his own rock/jazz group and went on to stardom.
How to play high on the trumpet has been a plight for many seasoned trumpeters for decades. The problem is that it is not logical: In other words, it is not as simple as just practice higher and longer….it doesn’t work that way.
TRUMPETSIZZLE seems to be able to help trumpet players get past their sticking points and on to real results in gaining trumpet upper register….check it out, can’t hurt!
